Early Years... I was born to be an artist. From my early years, I drew, coloured and painted like no other of my class (so I was told). At the age of 5, my mother caught me red-handed in my room, gluing bird figures I had cut from my bed sheets all over my walls. It was then that my mother decided an art class would be the perfect place for me to display my interests. I remember looking forward to going to an art class every week. It was my place of refuge, where I felt I could explore my thoughts through drawing and painting. I continued with lessons up to Grade 6, when art was relaced with academics. It wasn't until Grade 12 that I started painting again. |
My Style... My style of painting is inspired by both realism and impressionism. I work with acrylic and oil paints. My canvasses and wood panels are vehicles for me to portray stories, whether they are about my emotions or my feelings towards certain objects and/or spaces. Through the use of colour and composition, I hope to give viewers a sense of mood and emotion. My educational background in the arts includes transportation design classes from Art Center, California, and art and design classes at OCAD (Ontario College of Art and Design), Toronto. My subject matter includes cars, landscapes. Initially I wanted to design cars, but now I love to paint them. I also enjoy painting abstract images and other forms of transportation, such as planes. |
